The three building blocks
- Section, a horizontal stripe across the page (usually represents a "row" of content)
- Column, a vertical slice inside a section. A section can have 1, 2, 3, 4 or more columns.
- Widget, a single element (heading, paragraph, image, button, video, form).
Pages are made by stacking sections vertically and arranging widgets inside columns.
Adding a new section
- Open the page in Elementor.
- Scroll to where you want the new section.
- Click the pink + button between existing sections.
- Choose how many columns you want (1, 2, 3, 4, etc.) by clicking one of the structure presets.
Adding a widget to a column
- In the left panel, find the widget you want (Heading, Image, Button, etc.). Search the widget list using the top-left search box.
- Drag the widget from the panel into the column on the page.
- Click the widget on the page to edit its content and style on the left.
Useful widgets, common uses
- Heading, section titles. Pick H1 / H2 / H3 from the dropdown.
- Text Editor, paragraphs of body text, with bold/italic/link formatting.
- Image, a single image, with alt text and link options.
- Button, a call-to-action button. Set the text, the link, and the colour scheme.
- Icon Box, icon + heading + description, three-up grids made simple.
- Image Carousel, a sliding gallery of images.
- Spacer, adds vertical space without affecting layout. Use sparingly.
Duplicating a section
The fastest way to build a similar second section: right-click an existing one and choose Duplicate. Edit the new copy instead of starting from scratch.
Saving and publishing
Click Update in the bottom-left. Changes are live immediately.
If a section breaks: use the revision history (clock icon at the bottom) to roll back. Elementor saves a revision every time you Update, nothing is permanently lost.
