Start a new post
- Log into WordPress at
yourdomain.com.au/wp-admin. - Hover Posts in the left menu, click Add New.
- Click Add title at the top, type your post title.
- Click below the title and start writing. Each paragraph is a block; press Enter to start a new one.
Add an image (the featured image)
The featured image is the main image that shows up next to the post in your blog listing and when people share the post on social media. Add it like this:
- In the right-hand sidebar, find the Featured image panel. (If the right sidebar isn't visible, click the gear icon top-right.)
- Click Set featured image.
- Upload or pick an image, then Set featured image at the bottom.
Pick a category
In the right sidebar, find the Categories panel. Tick one or more existing categories. If none of the existing ones fit, click Add New Category.
Publish
Click Publish in the top-right. WordPress asks "Are you ready to publish?", click Publish again to confirm. Your post is live.
Tip: If you want to save the draft and come back later, click Save draft instead of Publish. The post won't go live until you Publish it.
Make a post look better
Use these blocks (click the + button while typing):
- Heading, for subheadings within a post.
- Image, for images inside the post body (separate from the featured image).
- List, for bullet or numbered lists.
- Quote, to highlight a sentence.
